Pierogi Review

I purchased this Pierogi maker to try to and make some delicate Thai steamed fish dumplings from Charmaine Solomons' Thai Cookbook (page 22).The dumplings in this book have a rope-like edge that makes them very attractive. I have tried them with the pleated edge dumpling presses but this makes the outer edge too thick and spoils the texture of the finished product.I thought this product with its narrow edge might be a good alternative, how wrong I was.To start with the instructions are on a 4" scrap of photocopied paper, not very professional.They explain that you need to use a "shaping form" to make the depressions to put the filling in.There is no "shaping form" or worse still no information on where to get one and this product is unusable without one. I have attempted to use this product by making the depressions with other kitchen items but this does not work well so I have added this to the"tried & useless" kitchen gadget cupboard.

I bought this pot because my son bought me tea that "blooms" into a flower and I wanted to be able to see it. I was afraid I would break it immediately but it is pretty tough. Seeing the tea bloom in this pot is amazing. I have a lot of tea pots but use this one most of the time now because it is just the right size for two people. Not too big. It does get hot, but it's just so pretty. I do not use the infuser, you're on your own there. It looses one star because it drips more than I would like, but not enough to stop me from using it.

Not much too say but it does the job. The only comment I will like to say is try to figure how much you will really transport. The bag can hold a lot and if you consistently only place one pie in it then I think your pizza will get a little bit colder sooner because of all the extra air. The positive side is that you can hold a lot in it. I use it to transport my favorite pizza in the trunk of my car back home. Extremely cold days it is tough to keep warm but it does its job most of the times. That is a fifty-minute drive from door to door. I think if you have much shorter drive time then that will keep the pizza perfectly warm.

Tiger America 10 c. Elec Rice Cooker/Food St ( JNP-1800 ) Review

I have owned this type of Rice Cooker for more than 2 years. It is a little pricey compared to other rice cookers, but from my experience, it is worth it. This rice cooker cooks rice quickly (15 minutes or so) and it keep the rice warm until you are ready to eat. I had my rice stay on "warm" one time for two days without the rice turning brown and the bottom getting hard and burnt. We always have our rice cooker on "warm" so that we can have rice available 24/7. We eat rice for lunch and dinner and sometimes for breakfast too, so I always cook rice in the morning and it will last us until dinner. If we have left over rice for dinner, it will still stay warm and fluffy the next day.

I have tried several cheaper rice cookers sold in Target, they do a good job in cooking rice, but they dont keep it warm and soft... after a few hours of being on "warm" the rice turns brown and hard. These cheap rice cookers are only good for occasional rice eaters and for those who can finish their rice in one seating.

I was told also that Rice cookers made in Japan last longer than the ones made in China. There are similar "Tiger rice cookers" made in China but are sold at a much lower price ($50+-). According to friends, these doesn't last long especially if you plan to use your rice cooker everyday. So be sure to get a "Made in Japan" model.

Saeco Nina Traditional Espresso Machine Review

Just got the Nina and after taking a few minutes and following the well detailed instructions to a T had made one of the finest home-brewed cups of java in a while. For those who enjoy the good cup and cannot afford(or as I justify) spending a few thousand bucks on a real fine machine this one takes the burden away. If you want to brew a full cup you simply hold the brew button down untill your cup is filled.
I've been trhu a few of the 200+ dollar machines and this one is well to compete with the 500+ dollar machines minus the bells and whisltes and it makes a cup just as good as the two-thousand dollar machine without the bling.
If your looking for a fine home-brewed espresso machine then look no further as this one wil make you exactly what you want.
